Canadian musician wins Chopin Piano Competition

WARSAW, Oct 21 (Reuters) – Canadian musician Bruce Xiaoyu Liu gained the highest prize on the prestigious Worldwide Chopin Piano Competitors in Warsaw on Thursday.

The choice got here after a number of hours of deliberations by a 17-person worldwide jury. The winner receives a 40,000 euro ($46,620) prize and gold medal.

The second prize ex aequo went to Alexander Gadjiev and Kyohei Sorita, whereas Martin Garcia Garcia got here in third.

The competitors, named after the famed Polish composer Frederic Chopin, began in 1927. It’s held each 5 years.

Its 18th version was scheduled to happen in 2020 however was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
